Margaret Aikerman, the young and beautiful wife of a rich Florida real estate developer, is envied and feared by the older ladies of the Cypress Bay Country Club as she cavorts with their husbands on the club’s tennis courts and flirts with them in the club’s bars. A sassy, fast-paced murder mystery that initially appears to be a straight-ahead police procedural. A woman, resident of Cypress Bay, Florida, is found dead, nearly naked, in an isolated depressed part of town. Margaret Aikerman is the socialite wife of a local wealthy mover and shaker. Turns out she isn't known for her fidelity to the marriage bed. In fact, as local homicide detectives begin to work the case, it becomes apparent that the opposite is the case. She's known for having intimate liaisons with most of the men at the local country club. Did her husband discover that and do her in? Did one of Margaret's lovers end her life in a jealous rage? What seems fairly pedestrian and logical at first, gradually becomes more and more complicated as the cops dig deeper.Even the characters that populate the novel are familiar and act in predicable ways. But there's satisfaction in discovering that and that the cops are adaptable and flexible enough to continue digging until final twists and realities are laid bare. This isn't a novel you will remember for many years. On the other hand, it will take your mind off your own troubles for several hours.
